On June 24, ANQA conducted a monitoring of the internal quality assurance system at the Yerevan Gladzor University.
As part of the monitoring, meetings were held with the education institution’s management staff, QA managers, teachers and students. The process focused on the self-audit of academic programmes (APs), as well as the self-evaluation highlights ahead of the upcoming institutional accreditation.
The following key issues were addressed:
- Data-driven management
The discussions explored the data that informs institutional decision-making, the methods for its collection and analysis, as well as its use in the enhancement-led processes.
- Promotion of research activities and institutional priorities
It was presented how the institution supports the participation of students and teachers in research activities, outlines the research priorities, incorporates research components in the student assignments, and cultivates students' analytical and critical thinking skills.
- AP enhancement and qualification credibility
The discussion highlighted how the institution makes sure of the credibility of awarded qualifications and ensures that alumni achieve the intended outcomes. The methodology for the revision of APs and the introduction of new programmes was presented. Importance was attached to the need to strengthen the research component in graduation papers and provide well-supported evidence of the outcome achievement.
- Student assessment and practical teaching
The discussion examined the institution's formative assessment practice, the students’ feedback mechanisms, the incorporation of labour market–aligned assignments, and the effectiveness of internships in the development of practical skills.
- AI in the educational process
The discussion addressed the institution’s efforts to integrate AI tools into the educational process and foster students' skills development.
At the end of the monitoring, during the meeting with the management staff, the education institution’s achievements and enhancement opportunities were discussed. It was emphasised that experts will focus on the outcome achievement in the institutional accreditation process. Therefore, it is essential that self-evaluations thoroughly analyse and provide well-supported evidence of the achievement of the AP outcomes.
