On April 22, ANQA conducted a monitoring of the internal quality assurance system at the Yerevan State Sports Collage of Olympic Reserve. In 2023, the education institution was granted institutional accreditation for a period of four years.
The monitoring aimed to identify the impact of the accreditation on the quality assurance system and educational processes, track the implementation of the follow-up plan, as well as evaluate the current achievements and potential challenges.
As part of the monitoring, meetings were held with the education institution’s management staff, teachers, students and the quality assurance manager.
The key topics of discussion were:
- Annual quality assurance plans and their implementation: the areas and schedule for data collection to support decision-making and enhancement-led processes.
- Organisation of the teaching process: how the education institution trains coaches to shape future Olympic champions through the use of the latest technologies and methods.
- Student assessment mechanisms: how formative assessments are conducted, whether assignments include a research component and how the students receive feedback, particularly during the off-campus training.
- Teaching of foreign languages and development of communication skills: focus on effective communication in a global sports context and mastery of specialised vocabulary and terminology in various languages.
- Development of research skills and fostering of a research-oriented environment: how the education institution ensures the integration of a research component, supports teachers' research activities and encourages students to engage in research and build data handling skills.
At the end of the monitoring, ANQA’s specialists met with the education institution's management staff to discuss the strengths and areas for enhancement, highlighting the need to more effectively leverage the potential in quality assurance and research and strengthen cooperation with other education institutions in the sector.
