On August 28-29, ANQA organised training for medical experts. The goal was to prepare specialists for the programme accreditation processes to be launched at five medical VET institutions.
The training focused on the principles of periodic evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes. The discussions addressed the importance of the development of assessment criteria and rubrics that cover both theoretical and practical components. It was highlighted that the same outcome should be assessed across different subjects through various tools to gain a complete picture of the student preparedness.
The need for mapping learning outcomes was also emphasised. VET institutions should clearly plan the assessment of outcomes, specifying the stages and levels. Importance was attached to the principle that the education institutions should be confident students have achieved the intended outcomes before the qualifications are awarded.
In the practical session, the participants analysed the outcomes of the AP "Nursing Work", set the priorities from their perspective and explored the necessary conditions and assessment tools for their achievement. The training also covered the following issues:
- the organisation of the teaching process, considering the employer requirements and the peculiarities of the professional environment;
- the criteria and methods to assess the student progress;
- the approaches to address student learning difficulties;
- when and how to provide constructive feedback to students.
