On April 17, ANQA held the third workshop on internal audits of academic programmes (Aps), addressing current practices.
According to ANQA’s Accreditation Committee decisions, internal audit is a mandatory process for HEIs.
The meeting highlighted that the audit should encompass more than just compliance with documents and regulations. It should become a tool for substantive analysis of the AP, evaluating how each component, such as teaching methods, assessment tools and outcomes work together and the extent to which students' research skills are developed.
"The audit aims not only to ensure compliance with criteria, but also to determine whether each AP’s component contributes to the achievement of intended outcomes," noted Ruben Topchyan, ANQA’s director.
The HEIs shared their practices, the challenges faced and effective solutions. It was mentioned that the audit should be a participatory process, with well-defined hypotheses and real evaluation. An importance was attached to the periodic planning and implementation of audit, which should become a key component of the quality assurance system. The representatives from the M. Nalbandyan State University of Shirak, the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences, the Goris State University and the Yerevan State University presented the process and outcomes of the internal audit.
