On October 3, ANQA held a training-discussion with medical experts as part of the VET institutions' upcoming programme accreditation.
The discussion focused on nurse preparation in VET institutions, specifically ensuring students achieve the outcomes set by state academic standards. The experts stressed that nurses should develop professional code of conduct and responsibility from the earliest stage of their studies, highlighting that every action of a nurse affects human life.
Reference was also made to modern teaching methods. The experts emphasised the use of mannequins, scenario-based tasks, as well as the skills evaluation through assessment sheets and established criteria.
It was stressed that the learning environment should closely mirror real workplace conditions, with employers playing a crucial role in the student preparation.
The state academic standard for the AP "Nursing" was also addressed. The experts pointed out the professional competencies they consider a priority in nursing. The discussions also covered how experts can use fact-finding mechanisms to make sure of the achievement of each outcome.
In addition, the experts referred to the "Building innovative teaching capacities in VET (development of research and digital skills" project, implemented with the support of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, exploring the role of research-oriented thinking in the nurses’ practical work and the skills requiring further development.
