On July 18, ANQA held a meeting with VET institutions’ quality assurance managers. The discussions focused on the following issues:
- development of VET institutions’ internal quality assurance systems;
- modernisation of monitoring mechanisms for academic programmes (AP);
- integration of mapping tools into the QA monitoring process.
It was observed that mapping is a comprehensive mechanism to outline students’ learning paths, specify the AP outcomes, and connect them to teaching and assessment methods and teachers’ competencies. The potential of mapping in the following key areas was addressed:
- outcomes ↔ teaching methods;
- outcomes ↔ assessment methods;
- outcomes ↔ resources (laboratories, equipment);
- outcomes ↔ teachers’ key competencies.
The mappings will also provide a basis for QA systems to review and monitor APs, ensuring the student progress and the achievement of intended outcomes. The tool will enable to:
- evaluate the applicability and effectiveness of teaching methods;
- analyse the alignment of student assignments and educational content with the real-world labour market requirements;
- ensure an effective and targeted use of available resources: laboratories, equipment and material-technical means.
Starting in September 2025, research groups will be formed, comprising VET institutions’ QA managers, academic programme managers and professional subject teachers. ANQA will coordinate the groups as they begin the AP mapping.
2025 will be designated as the "Year of Quality Research", with the aim to:
- build the AP management capacities;
- form collaborative networks;
- strengthen cooperation within VET institutions.
Starting in January 2026, the research groups’ outcomes will be regularly discussed and presented through seminars, webinars and forums.
