On February 11, ANQA, in cooperation with the University of California, Davis, held an online session for Armenian students with the founders of the Article 26 Backpack. During the session, the Article 26 Backpack was introduced, a free cloud-based digital tool that facilitates academic mobility, empowering young people to plan and structure their higher education, training and career pathways.
It was noted that the Article 26 Backpack is a digital platform for storing, structuring, and sharing academic materials.
The Article 26 Backpack represents the students’ entire professional trajectory, offering a number of key benefits:
- safe storage of educational background and employment history, guaranteed by the academic standards of the University of California, Davis;
- opportunities to share professional achievements with universities, scholarship agencies, and employers;
- document certification through ECE Aid to achieve international recognition;
- regular updates on academic opportunities and a chance to receive a UC Davis Continuing Education Badge Certificate;
- secure document sharing via temporary links;
- availability in eight languages, including Armenian.
With an initial goal to address the social and institutional barriers that arise as refugees and vulnerable young people attempt to continue their education or gain employment, Keith David Watenpaugh, Professor and Director of Human Rights Studies at the University of California, Davis, created Article 26 Backpack. Article 26 Backpack™ is named in accordance with Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which asserts everyone’s right to education. Currently, the platform serves more than 5,000 users worldwide. Attached you can find the slide presentation from the online session. It should be noted that new sessions will be scheduled in the near future with representatives of the Article 26 Backpack to develop the skills in using the digital platform.
