On January 20-22, ANQA, with the support of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, organised training for teachers from the IT VET institutions as part of “Building Innovative Teaching Capacities in VET (Development of Research and Digital Skills)” project. The aim was to develop the teachers’ research and digital skills to ensure effective teaching process and foster a research-oriented mindset among students.
Key areas of the training
The teachers were introduced to approaches and tools that contribute to the development of students' research skills, including data collection, analysis and formulation of well-grounded conclusions. The sessions covered the following key topics:
- cultivation of a research-oriented mindset;
- data collection and analysis;
- integration of research findings into the teaching process.
On the first day, participants were introduced to the methods for the formulation and analysis of research questions. The first stage of research involves identification of issues, which is an important step in the process. Teachers learnt how to support students in the correct formulation of these questions and guide them through all research stages.
Data collection and analysis
On the second day, participants worked on the methods and tools for data collection. The training included practical exercises designed to develop data analysis skills in line with established patterns. This model enables students to make data-driven professional decisions.
Use of research findings
On the last day of the training, teachers learnt how to integrate the research findings into the teaching process. Participants discussed how their approaches and methods could be applied in their work with students, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the educational process.
This training aimed not only to develop the teachers’ research and digital skills, but also to foster a research-oriented mindset among students, preparing them for the labour market. The knowledge and skills gained through this project will help provide effective teaching and develop students' research skills.
