As part of the institutional accreditation process, a site visit is set to take place at the Yerevan Dancing Art State College.
On December 11, a meeting was held with the expert panel of the education institution, ANQA’s director and the coordinator.
The discussions covered the key issues and hypotheses identified through the desk review, which the experts will observe in the external review process.
The main points addressed were:
- the process of student assessment, including the criteria used and the formative assessment practice;
- the extent to which teaching and learning align with the intended outcomes, and how their achievement and assessment are ensured;
- the conduct of summative assessment and whether the methodology guarantees the achievement of all AP outcomes;
- the student assignments, feedback mechanisms and the documentation of students' professional progress;
- the combination of theoretical and practical courses, the cultivation of a research-oriented mindset among students and methods used for this purpose.
The peculiarities of teaching and assessment in art VET institutions were also discussed. It was highlighted that art students should be both performers and creators. In this regard, importance was attached to the development of a research-oriented mindset, the interconnected study of practical and theoretical materials, as well as the exploration of best practices.
Emphasis was placed on individual portfolios, which serve to showcase and document the students' professional development throughout their studies.
It was highlighted that the expert panel report should reflect the education institution’s peculiarities, evaluate the effectiveness of the academic programme implementation, and include recommendations on the enhancement of the student-centered environment and APs.
