On April 30, as part of the Erasmus+ QA4VET project, a workshop took place with the participation of internal quality assurance groups from partner VET institutions. The discussion focused on SWOT analysis as a tool for self-evaluation and quality assurance.
Ruben Topchyan, ANQA’s Acting Director and Varduhi Gyulazyan, head of the agency’s Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division, outlined the principles for the effective implementation of SWOT analysis, highlighting that the process should be systematic, evidence-based, and data-driven. It was mentioned that SWOT analysis should not be confined to general observations or viewpoints. Each statement should be supported by quantitative and qualitative data, the results of internal evaluations and external reviews, stakeholder feedback and other forms of analysis.
The workshop also addressed practical approaches to the implementation of SWOT analysis in the accreditation process, presenting how it can support the identification of institutional strengths and weaknesses, the evaluation of risks and development opportunities, and the preparation of follow-up action plans.
At the next meeting, VET institutions will share their SWOT analyses within the institutional accreditation criterion "Academic Programmes", grounded in specific data and evidence. The presented analyses will be discussed, after which ANQA will provide professional feedback for further enhancement.
