On January 21-23, ANQA, with the support of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, organised training for teachers from medical VET institutions as part of “Building Innovative Teaching Capacities in VET (Development of Research and Digital Skills)” project. The main goal was to develop students’ research thinking within medical modules through teachers’ capacity building, drawing on real clinical and professional situations.
What did the training offer to the teachers?
Teachers acquired skills that will support the effective integration of research processes into their modules. In particular, teachers developed the following capacities:
- Integration of research skills into teaching
Teachers will be able to guide their students in the correct formulation of questions, as well as in the collection and analysis of relevant data to draw well-grounded conclusions.
- Development of research-oriented mindset in clinical situations
Teachers learnt to formulate research questions based on real medical situations and compare data to identify patterns required for professional decision-making.
- Strengthening of skills in research activities
Teachers acquired practical approaches that will enable them not only provide brief explanations to students, but also guide them in the application of knowledge and improvement of data-driven research activities.
What will the training offer to students?
As a result of the training, teachers will be able to foster in students the skills necessary for the development of research-oriented mindset grounded in practical and clinical situations. Students will gain the following capacities:
- Cultivation of a research-oriented mindset
Students will learn to collect and analyse relevant data, formulate questions and draw conclusions, considering the patient's condition, clinical information and specific characteristics of the medical environment.
- Formation of observation and data analysis skills
Students will be able to collect and analyse data, identify patterns and make comparisons, drawing on real-world issues.
- Development of professional skills
Students will be able to make informed decisions based on data analysis, improving their practical and professional performance.
Thus, the training will not only support the enhancement of teaching skills, but will also contribute to the improvement of students' practical performance, equipping them with the skills necessary for informed decision-making in their professional practice.
