On February 23-25, the French-Armenian Vocational Training Center hosted the European Training Foundation’s (ETF) three-day FormA training programme for VET institution teachers.
The thematic focus of the training was proposed by ANQA as a logical follow-up to the 2024 peer review on formative assessment conducted in Armenian VET institutions by ETF partner countries.
The key objective of the training is to strengthen the formative assessment component in VET institutions, thereby contributing to the development of more competent professionals.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Araksia Svajyan, deputy minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA, Olena Bekh, ETF’s senior human capital development expert and coordinator for innovative teaching and learning, Tamar Kitiashvili, human capital development expert at ETF and Anna Aleksanyan, formative assessment expert and trainer.
The training brought together representatives from ANQA, National Centre for the Vocational Education and Training Development (NCVETD), National Centre for Education Development and Innovation Foundation (NCEDI), as well as staff members from a number of VET institutions. ANQA was represented by Liana Alaverdyan and Tatev Hakhnazaryan, specialists from the Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division.
The training aims to adapt the ETF's FormA toolset to the context of the Armenian VET system. It offers a framework of standards, criteria and tools designed to help teachers and education institutions evaluate their current practices and develop strategies to use assessment as an important means to ensure student success.
The workshop also seeks to prepare future trainers who can integrate these methods into their modular programmes, build on success and subsequently share their practices with other teachers, thus promoting the wider dissemination of best practices.
