Armenia maintains its representation in the governing body of one of the key European organisations in the higher education QA.
On October 22, at the General Assembly of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, Varduhi Gyulazyan, head of ANQA's Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division, was elected to the ENQA Board for a three-year term.
The election was held through a vote by representatives of ENQA member organisations.
This election marks a significant milestone for Armenia’s higher education QA system and demonstrates the international professional community’s trust in the expertise, competences and professional potential of Armenian specialists.
The ENQA Board plays a key role in the definition of the Association's strategic directions and priorities and oversight of their implementation. The election of Armenia’s representative provides an opportunity for direct involvement in the development of European higher education QA policies and the formulation and adoption of strategic decisions.
ENQA is one of the leading professional organisations in the European higher education QA system. ENQA plays an important role in the development of QA policies within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the promotion of the implementation of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the enhancement of EQA systems.
Armenia has been represented on the ENQA Board since 2019, when ANQA Director Ruben Topchyan was first elected and subsequently re-elected for a second term in 2022. Varduhi Gyulazyan’s election ensures the continuity of Armenia’s participation in the Association’s governance.
ANQA has been ENQA's full member since 2017 and remains actively engaged in European higher education QA initiatives. Armenia’s representation on the ENQA Board creates new opportunities to strengthen international cooperation, share Armenian practice and expand Armenia’s contribution to the development of European QA policies.
During the General Assembly, Péter Levente Lakatos, Director General of the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (MAB), was elected ENQA President, while Ronny Heintze, a representative of the German QA agency AQAS, was also elected to the ENQA Board.
