On September 23, the Global Academic Integrity Network (GAIN) held its regular meeting. ANQA, as a GAIN member, was represented by Meri Barseghyan, specialist at the Policy Development Division.
The meeting focused on different forms of academic integrity violations and international practices for addressing them.
A representative of Lithuania’s Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures shared findings from expert interviews on contract cheating and introduced initiatives for the revision of existing regulations.
A representative of the Italian Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence (CIMEA) addressed the issues of fraudulent education providers and documents certifying fake qualifications. The presentation highlighted the consequences of fraud in education and CIMEA’s efforts to tackle these issues.
Academic integrity in the age of AI was a separate topic of discussion. Tricia Bertram Gallant, President Emerita of the International Center for Academic Integrity, presented on the topic.
Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) shared its experience in safeguarding academic integrity.
The participants also welcomed Ben Shultz from Australia’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) as the new co-chair of GAIN.
