On March 4, the Global Academic Integrity Network (GAIN) held its 15th meeting, addressing a number of topical issues related to the ensurance of academic integrity.
ANQA’s specialists also participated in the meeting alongside representatives from education quality assurance agencies, HEIs, and international partner organisations.
Lenka Ucnik, representative from the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), delivered the opening speech.
Michael Draper and Phil Newton, professors at the Swansea University, shared the findings of their research on online unsupervised exams. According to the professors, such formats do not always ensure an accurate and reliable assessment of knowledge and may increase the risk of academic integrity violations.
The agenda also covered initiatives implemented in the field and opportunities for the expansion of international cooperation. Laura Flynn, representative from the Quality and Qualifications Authority of Ireland (QQI), delivered a presentation on this topic.
At the end of the meeting, the participating organisations reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing cooperation through joint efforts to protect academic integrity, prevent misconduct, and strengthen the quality of education at the international level.
